Wow! Volume Four in five days. That means four mixes and four chances for you to expand your music collection.  The next couple of volumes including today’s will be for the DJ’s. Why? Because we are going to focus on transition tracks.  So, each day, we will feature one that we like to use and then DieGnostic and Christian Rokk show how they might use it in the mix.  Today’s transition track is from Notixx and Grimeace and it’s a 128bpm-150bpm number called “Stack It Up” and you need this in your life.

Today’s mix!!!

Volume Two of RokkPaperScissors Is Now Live!
Today the music world celebrates the release of The R.O.A.R.’s full “Emotion32”EP with remixes from Chooky, Ricky Vaughn and De$ignated to back up the amazing original.   One type of music that has taken hold of dancefloors in recent years is Dillon Francis’ nu jump up sound.   It’s hard to define sometimes what exactly constitutes moombahton, moombahcore and nu jump up tunes but typically nu jump up tunes have no dembow and have a more melody driven arrangement.   Both Chooky’s remix of “Emotion32” and The R.O.A.R.’s original production “Touchdown” are in that vein of tunes, so today’s mix focuses on Nu Jump Up and The R.O.A.R.
Today’s mix by Christian Rokk!!
Tracklisting:
The R.O.A.R. “Emotion32” Chooky Remix
"This song was my introduction to The R.O.A.R. although I was loosely familiar with some of his work as one half of the Fire and Reason.  Very glad to see this EP get a full release with remixes by Ricky Vaughn, De$ignated, and Chooky.  This is of course the Chooky remix and it’s a killer slice of vocal nu jump up."
Poisound “Music Feel Me Up”
"If you are a fan of moombahton, you may be familiar with Poisound from the El Cuco release, "The Bullfighter", which received heavy play from Nadastrom and others. I personally want to hear more, this song is a frequent opener to my sets although it takes the second spot today."
Ricky Vaughn “Frillon Dancis”
"The most talented dude in music.  I said it, I meant it and I don’t have to represent it.  He does with weekly free releases and creates full album concepts more often than you change your undies.  Yeah. I noticed."
Kovary “Let The Music Do the Talking”
"Not enough attention for Kovary, still trying though. He is your favorite artist you forget to mention"
The R.O.A.R. “Touchdown”
"An original that gave rise to a very ambitious album released earlier this year on Rot10 Musik.  Big time stadium sound from a stadium rocker.  Steve Narvaez, please move to the head of the class."

The LINKS!!!!!

I’ve been looking for a way to combine my love of DJing, writing, music discovery and future bass into one cohesive project.  Now obviously nothing was going to do that entirely but my new conception of the RokkPaperScissors blog comes awfully close.  First, we will establish a theme and find some music that YOU should KNOW. Next, we will mix it altogether and then post the tracklisting here in the forms of links to the tunes and make commentary on the tunes and the artists making them.  We hope one day to have custom art, interviews, guest mixes and more but for now…today’s format is the format.  Check it out!
The very first ever RokkPaperScissors mix focuses on mostly brand spanking new festival trap and dubstep from the biggest producers on Earth.   These are tunes that you’ve heard and will be hearing on huge systems all summer long so get familiar.
Tracklist:
TOKiMONSTA - Go With It (CRNKN REMIX)
"An absolutely huge remix from CRNKN that is about as good away as I could ever think of to get hands swaying high in the air and since this was a sampling of festival tunes, it fit the bill as the opening track to the mix.   I see a difference in CRNKN as he is really finding new sounds to explore which differs say, from UZ, who seems stuck in a rut"
Chooky - Gunshot
"I’m familiar with Chooky due to his moombahton output but it never had to be that way and it clearly does not now.  Huge dubstep original from the man who also has a huge electro tune slated for a forthcoming RPS blog post/DJ mix."
Des McMahon - Phantom
"Big free tune from Des McMahon.  This is real, goosebump raising dubstep, perfect for slaying a willing crowd"
Riot Ten - Party Hard (VIP Trap Edit)
"There is a lot of trap that pairs with dubstep like cheese pairs with wine.  Have you met my homey Riot Ten?"
AC Slater - Party Animals (Flinch remix)
"This TRAPMUSIC.NET exclusive is probably the biggest tune I can drop right now.  The vocals from longtime favorites, Nina Sky, make this a MUST HAVE."
Gent and Jawns - Vibrate (LeDoom remix)
"Once upon a time when "future trap" was just hitting the blogosphere (like what, last year? lol), I felt deep and soulful would be the main thrust with tracks like "Trapped in Sydney" and "Harlem Shake" being the abberations but by the time LeDoom flipped "Vibrate", I realized that this trap sound was destined for the big stages"
Ace Hood - Bugatti (TAGRM remix)
"Easily the fastest rising act in Wisconsin and near the top of that category nationwide as well, the high output of originals and remixes by The Al Gore Rhythm Method will continue to sure a fast climb to the top"
Bare - Dance Class
"All dance everything.  If you like it hard, you like Bare.  Period"
Must Die! and Getter - Amy’s Bakery
"What the hell is this song about? Play it nearly everyday, have no idea where the samples are from or what they mean.  The bassline is from Hell and says report to the dancefloor."

** Here are my thoughts.  Deep moombahton rules your face.  Scroll down to read the full SC description.   One last thing that I will add is that you are not in fact hip if you listen to this album and decide it’s not worth your time.  But you knew that…loser **

It was a spring day in the year 2011. ZSonic awoke and bathed in the waves of the morning sound. His ritual was interrupted by the cry of a babe. Drawn to it’s rhythmic and surprisingly low tone, he began searching for it’s source. He found a basket near the edge of the water. Inside the basket was a boy of unclear descent, like Keanu Reeves. He had a label stuck to his forehead, “Moombahton”. ZSonic knew with the right training the boy would grow to be a great warrior, fond of
balloons and balloon-shaped things.
ZSonic trained him at the Sonic Temple, a secret underground sound dojo in one convenient locations. In Africa. He educated him with jazz and funk records, and taught him the ancient sub bass techniques. When Z could teach the boy no more, he sent him to Indonesia to complete his training with the great Samurai, Ginger Shinobi. Ginger, using his deadly networking technique, quickly made the boy a master, and a man(not in “that” way).
The Ultrasonic Being is now ready to travel the sound waves of the world and defend all people’s ears and bootys, making the dance-floor a sexy place where every one can get down.

This mix was recorded in one take via serato scratch live and two vinyl disc players. All tunes written and produced by ZSonic.

Huge thank you to BDR Dancefloor and all the music supporters world wide!!!

Tunes

1.)ZSonic - “Ultrasonic Being”
2.)ZSonic - “Blizzard in the Temple”
3.)ZSonic - “Laughing Meditation”
4.)Zsonic - “Jazz Acid”

Yes! Mon Dieux. It’s got melody, breaks, old school references, Dillon Francis sounds and by golly that’s just the first 50 secs of the first track.   Arehouse’s “Diamonds” EP is just what the doctor ordered.

The title track “Diamonds” is a grindy little number that has a different feel from “Old School Biz” (the track I was referring to above) but maintains some excellent synth work and adds some real serious bottom end.

"Come Wit It!" ft Koukla will be of most interest to dancefloor DJ’s and has tons of jump up style energy but with amazing layering and references you don’t find in your average ‘core track.

I’d give this EP an A- on my rather difficult scale.  100% solid tunes.  Looking forward to getting down with these.

EDM ROCKER The R.O.A.R. returns with an INDIE-ROCK x TRAP Original. Taking the best of both worlds and splicing the DNA of an INDIE ROCK group (ala MGMT/PASSION PIT/EMPIRE OF THE SUN VIBE) with the DEEP BOUNCE of a TRAP TRACK “TYLENOL PM” comes out as a NEW BREED of SOUND. After having experimented with MOOMBAHTON and straight up ELECTRO-ROCK on previous tracks, The R.O.A.R. brings it down SOUTH for a DIRTY yet HAUNTING VIBE. Lyrically “TYLENOL PM” evokes imagery that might be akin to DANTE’s INFERNO. The tale of a person trying to escape their DEMONS, and outrun the GHOSTS of PAST LOVES by KNOCKING THEMSELVES out with whatever they can get their hands on. We’ve all been there. SLEEPLESS NIGHTS. WHEN STAYING awake for days beats facing what may come when we finally fall ASLEEP.

For fans of moombahton, the first Moombahton Massive Day is being hosted June 1st.  Check out Dave Nada’s on point mix advertising this most festive of occassions.

Saturday, 6/1 we’re hosting our biggest Moombahton party yet - MOOMBAHTON MASSIVE DAY at 9:30 Club! Moombahton godfather Dave Nada sent us this exclusive Moombahton mix to get ready for the big night - for more information and tickets check out our website at http://bit.ly/MASSIVE61

So…..I got Ableton 9 when it came out and I wanted to get my head around the new features so I thought you know what lets see what this ish can do. I wanted to test out all the new stuff in it, the glue compressor, the groove engine changes, the new sounds , new editing features and some musical ideas I had in mind. I didn’t use the Audio to midi on this one, the main melody was done freestylin by me :) A Major is my new favourite scale :)

So I started working on something using the vocal from TI - What You know, but the track turned into a beast and I thought F IT, I wana finish this and put it out.

This track has taken me weeks, so much editing I did for it. I could probably do more if I wanted to lol. I wanted to get a lot of my musical loves in it so you’ll here elements of electro house, moombahton, latin ish and some cumbia stuff too.

So yeah……. here is my TI remix :).

WHAT YOU KNOW ABOUT THAT WHAT YOU KNOW ABOUT THAAAATTTTTT.

:).
